5. DESIGN SPECIFICATION

Design specifications describe how a project will be implemented from a technical perspective. The architecture selection process will provide the context as to how the final product is to be delivered. The details of its implementation, however, must be thoroughly discussed, documented and reviewed. Required functionality is abstracted in order to identify commonalities. The identification of these commonalities provides an opportunity to develop streamlined functions for supporting business processes. All business requirements and processes are reviewed against the final design specification. In many instances certain requirements are set outside the scope of the initial implementation, though accommodations must be made for future integration.

Design specification documentation defines the final scope and priorities of the project’s deliverables.
